UPDATE: May is ME Awareness Month - what better time to invite everyone you know to donate just £1 towards our longed-for goal of proper medical treatment of this serious disease, which can only be achieved by genuinely high quality translational biomedical research. The IIME Biomedical Research Fund has now reached an amazing £90k towards the initial target of £100k - proving that every £1 counts!
The One Day - One Pound event was originally created for ME Awareness Day 12th May 2012. The idea of Ruth Gilchrist and event created by Louise Cairns proved hugely popular, raising over £1100 in donations and over £150 in Gift Aid and inspired the idea to extend it to a monthly event throughout the year.
The idea is for as many people as possible to donate just £1 on the 1st of each month to show support and to help raise the much needed funds to commence proper biomedical research into this debilitating and often devastating illness. Don't worry if you miss the 1st - all donations throughout each month will count - and this month, you may prefer to donate on ME Awareness Day May 12th.

To donate £1.00 by text to 70070 - the code is ODOP99 (the O in the code is the letter, not zero) followed by the amount £1 (or £2, £3, £4, £5, £10 if you wish). Text donations will appear on the Just Giving Page and you can choose to add your name and Gift Aid if eligible, by text.

* Research in Norway indicated a need to investigate the possibility that M.E is an auto-immune disease. Click here for the report of the first meeting of the Clinical Autoimmunity Working Group held in London 30th-31st May 2012, arising from collaboration between The Alison Hunter Memorial Foundation and Bond University in Australia and Invest in ME and the University of East Anglia in UK. There will be a further meeting of major international researchers prior to the next Invest in ME conference in May 2013.
